Kenya’s gengetone group Mbogi Genje has responded to Siaya Senator James Orengo’s tweet in which he acknowledges the crew and their musical creativity in their new smash hit ‘Warena’ featuring Khaligraph Jones. While attending the Skiza thanksgiving ceremony in Muranga, Orengo who is also the minority leader in the Senate praised the song saying it was an indication of how talented young Kenyans are.

”Am currently in Ndakaini, Murang’a County for the Skiza thanksgiving ceremony, I quickly remember this group of young Kenyans Mbogi Genje, who are doing a wonderful job. Their latest hit featuring Khaligraph titled Warena is greatly artistic. Music made in Kenya,” the senator tweeted last week.

Responding to Orengo, Mgogi Genje was grateful to have communicated through their music to the veteran politicians and was inspired the senator appreciated their art, while at the same time asking the senator to pass their regards to Raila Odinga, popularly known as Baba among his supporters.

”Greatful to have communicated to you with our art. Thanks for the kind words, this is inspiring. We’d appreciate if you can accord us sometime to share our vision and upcoming projects mtaani kuna talents mingi support yenu mhesh ndo nguvu yetu. Also pass our love to Baba,” the group tweeted Orengo back.

Mbogi Genje was born in Nairobi’s Umoja area with just two members, Militant and Smady who first begun rapping as kids and were later joined by the group’s last born Guzman. The group’s leader Smady says they are known as a gengetone group but they are not strictly focused on the genre.
