Police in Kitale have arrested a woman suspected to be killer cop Caroline Chemutai Kangogo.
In a police report exclusively seen by K24 Digital, the woman identified as Phanice Chemutai Juma was arrested in the night of Thursday, July 8 after officers drawn from Kiminini Police Station laid a trap.
“Ref my OB 26/8/7/2021 at 2130hrs. It was reported by one Ken Muyundo of telephone number 072xxxxx88 and a licensed firearm holder that there has been a lady by the name Chemutai who has been persistently calling to meet him within Kiminini market,” the police report said.
The OCS arranged a team and laid a trap where the lady met with Muyundo at Kiminini market.
Police say Muyundo fired a single shot to scare her and she was arrested in the process.
However, upon interrogation, Chemutai alleged to have met Muyundo and exchanged telephone numbers which prompted her to call him severally.
She further revealed that her name is Phanice Chemutai Juma from Kaboiywo village in Kaptama location.
Police added that on conducting a thorough search on the lady at the station, a wound was discovered at her lower left abdomen prompting the officers to take her to Kitale County Referral Hospital for treatment.
“The pistol, a ceska mini belonging to the said Ken Muyundo with one magazine loaded with 10 rounds of 9 by 18mm and one spent cartridge have been retrieved and held as exhibit,” the police report added.
The arrest of Chemutai comes after detectives in Nairobi confided to K24 Digital stating that killer cop Kangogo could be hiding in Nairobi’s Mathare slum.
A police signal stated that Kangogo had spent the night with Peter Ndwiga, her latest victim whose body was found at a hotel room in Kiambu. The two had booked room number 107 at the Hotel Dedamax at 4pm on Monday where they spent the night.
At around 1pm Tuesday, the owner of the hotel, Peter Mugeshi informed the police that one of his clients had been found dead inside a room.
CCTV footage captured Kangogo, dressed in a yellow hoodie, leaving the hotel at around 12.30am on Tuesday. Another screen grab of the footage obtained from cameras at the VIP lounge shows her walking into the hotel with the deceased.
A police signal stated that Kangogo was last seen on Tuesday night boarding a motorbike at Kahawa Wendani, which was then driven to Thika Road and branched off at Drive Inn stage.
It has also emerged that on the night Ndwiga was killed, Kangogo allegedly sent threatening messages to four men, suspected to be her former or current lovers, leading to the belief that she was on a revenge mission.
