ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi has criticised the national government for imposing additional taxes on cooking gas and other commodities, in the recently passed Finance Bill 2021. Speaking in Nakuru where he is on a two-day political tour, the former VP said the move not only makes life tougher for Kenyans but also slows downs the country’s efforts towards green energy.

“I am shocked at the recently passed Finance Bill that has seen the price of cooking gas increased due to taxes. This negates our aim of fully transitioning to use of petroleum gas at homes. If given a chance to lead this country, I promise Kenyans I will ensure our taxes are reduced,” the ANC boss said.

Mudavadi was accompanied by Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui, Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja, Nakuru Speaker Joel Kairu, MPs Sakwa Bunyasi (Nambale), Kassim Tandaza (Matuga), Tindi Mwale (Butere), and several ward representatives.

During the address to the media, the ANC leader also vowed to run for the presidency in 2022 and promised to unite all Kenyans towards the August next year polls. His sentiments were supported by Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui who said there was an urgent need for inter-party talks saying this was one way of guaranteeing the country peace before and after elections.
