20 deaths recorded as 531 test positive for Covid-19


The Ministry of Health has announced 531 new cases of Covid-19 from 8,154 samples tested in the last 24 hours.

This brings the total caseload in the country to 185,591 and the positivity rate to 6.5%.

From the cases 274 are males and 257 females.

Another 20 deaths have been reported from facility records audits for the months of June and July, bringing total covid related deaths to 3,671.

Total recoveries stand at 126,956 after 276 patients recovered from the disease; 151 are from the Home-based Isolation and Care program while 125 are from various hospitals.

A total of 1,144 patients are currently admitted in various health facilities countrywide, while 5,785 patients are under Home-based Isolation and Care program.

Some 124 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit, 39 of whom are on ventilatory support and 51 on supplemental oxygen, as 34 patients are under observation.

Another 152 patients are separately on supplemental oxygen with 137 of them in general wards and 15 in High Dependency Units.

The new Covid-19 cases are distributed in the counties as follows; Nairobi 185, Uasin Gishu 43, Busia 38, Kiambu 30, Siaya Kilifi and Nakuru 28 cases each, Kisumu 24,2Migori 20, Kakamega 14, Nyamira and Kericho 12 cases each, Homa Bay 9, Kajiado 6, Laikipia and Vihiga 5 cases each, Kisii, Kwale, Taita Taveta, Nyandarua and Murang’a 4 cases each.

Baringo, Kitui, Machakos, Meru and Turkana also recorded 3 cases each, Bomet and Bungoma 2 cases each while Kirinyaga, Mombasa, Narok, Nyeri and West Pokot recorded a case each.
