A teenage boy aged 16 years old who is alleged to have defiled a six years old girl was on Friday charged with the offence at Kapenguria law court.
The 16 years old suspect is accused of committing the offence in the Murkwijit area within West Pokot County on 28 June 2021 at an unknown time.
Appearing before Senior principal magistrate Samuel K. Mutai at a Kapenguria Law Court, the accused was charged with an offence of defilement contrary to section 8 (1) (2) of the sexual offences Act no 3 of 2006 where he pleaded not guilty in court.
The suspect is also alternatively charged with committing an offence of indecent act with the minor where he is accused of touching her private parts contrary to the sexual offences Act of 2006.
The court ordered the accused to be supplied with a statement for the case and an advocate to be appointed to act for him. The case will be mentioned on July 8, 2021, for a pre-trial.
Elsewhere in Kisumu a 53 year old defilement perpetrator has been released on a Sh200,000 bond and a surety of a similar amount by Winam law court on Thursday after pleading not guilty of defiling two minors both aged 9 at his home in Manyatta slums
Joel Etali appeared before Senior Resident Magistrate Joselyne Miteyi where the court was informed that on diverse dates in June 2021 in Manyatta area, the suspect intentionally defiled the children.
Etali, a caretaker by profession and unmarried was also accused of luring the class 2 kids with money ranging between Sh. 20 to Sh. 100 before touching their private parts indecently and having sex with them.
Key to Life Child Development Centre, a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) that advocates for children rights in the county escalated the matter to the police and the offender was nabbed on Sunday.
