MPs have threatened to disrupt the budget reading Thursday afternoon over delay in disbursement of the National Government Constituency Development Fund-CDF.
The lawmakers have said Treasury has failed to honour its earlier promise to send the money to constituencies before the end of the current financial year this end month.
National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi however asked the legislators to follow due process.
The Budget and Appropriations Committee of the National Assembly has set in motion this year’s budget reading. Committee chair Kanini Kega urged lawmakers to adopt the report, as he sought approval for the issuance of Ksh1.95 trillion from the consolidated fund to meet the expenditure for the next fiscal year that starts next month.

This year’s Ksh3.63 trillion budget is expected to focus on the completion of ongoing infrastructural projects, Covid-19 pandemic, economic recovery as well as the Big Four agenda.
The government targets to raise Ksh1.8 trillion of the budget from taxes.
