Leaders mourn Juja MP Francis Waititu – KBC

President Uhuru Kenyatta on Tuesday led Kenyans in mourning the death of Juja Member of Parliament Francis Waititu.

Popularly referred to as ‘Wakapee’ died who was serving his second term succumbed to brain cancer at a Nairobi hospital Monday evening.

In his message, the Head of State described Wakapee as a progressive, trusted and devoted leader.

“We’ve sadly lost a very progressive, trusted and committed leader whose public actions always reflected the interests of his constituents,” he said.

“It is because of the trust and love that the people of Juja had for Hon Waititu that they entrusted him with a second term in a very competitive election despite his illness,” the President said.

Deputy President William Ruto mourned the Juja MP as a selfless, bold and gifted with an affable personality.

He said that he was principled, hardworking and a respected leader who was above party politics.

“We will miss his enterprising servant leadership that transformed many lives. Our condolences to his family, loved ones, our Parliament and the people of Juja Constituency in this time of grief,” said DP Ruto.

Also mourning the late MP was former Kiambu Governor William Kabogo, Nairobi Women Representative Esther Passaris, Gilgil MP Martha Wangari, Homa Bay MP Gladys Wanga, Starehe MP Charles Njagua among others.

“My condolences to the people of Juja, friends and family on the demise of Hon Wakapee. My thoughts and prayers are with you in this time of grief,” said UDA Chairman Johnson Muthama.

The Juja MP succumbed barely a week after the death of Bonchari Member of Parliament John Oroo Oyioka.

The late Bonchari MP will be laid to rest this Friday at his Bomorenda home after a funeral service at Itierio Boys High School grounds.
